    Our Story

    Three Centuries of Custodianship

    RareBath Atelier

RareBath was born from a singular obsession: to rescue the most extraordinary specimens of Earth's geological heritage from obscurity and transform them into objects of enduring beauty. Our family has been custodians of the world's most extraordinary fossilised wood specimens for over three centuries.

    A Generational Legacy

For generations, our family maintained relationships with geologists, estate managers, and private collectors across three continents. These relationships allow us exclusive access to specimens that never reach the open market — fossils of such rarity and beauty that each represents a once-in-a-civilisation opportunity.

    The Artisan Tradition

Each bathtub represents months of meticulous handwork by master artisans trained not merely in the craft of carving stone, but in the deep understanding of each specimen's geological narrative. They do not impose a design upon the material — they reveal the design latent for 300 million years.

    Provenance & Integrity

    Authentic to the Last Grain

At RareBath, authenticity is not a marketing claim — it is the foundation of every transaction. We operate at the intersection of geological science and luxury craft, and our authentication process reflects that commitment with full scientific rigour.

    Third-Party Laboratory Analysis

Before any specimen enters our atelier, it undergoes comprehensive analysis by independent geological laboratories. This process confirms petrification age, mineral composition, structural integrity, and freedom from artificial enhancement or restorative treatment.

    Certificate of Authenticity

Each completed piece is accompanied by a bound certificate including specimen origin coordinates, estimated geological age, mineral composition report, authentication laboratory details, and the master artisan's signature and atelier seal.

    What We Guarantee

    Questions & Answers

    Everything You Need to Know

    What exactly is petrified wood?+
Petrified wood is ancient organic wood that has been replaced, molecule by molecule, by minerals — most commonly silica — over millions of years through a process called permineralisation. The result is a material with the external appearance and grain of wood, but the density and durability of stone.
    How old are your specimens?+
Our specimens range from approximately 150 million to 300+ million years old, sourced from geological formations across multiple continents. Each piece is independently dated by geological laboratory analysis, and the results are included in the certificate of authenticity.
Is a petrified wood bathtub safe for daily use?+
Yes. Once fully polished and sealed, petrified wood is non-porous and completely safe for bathing. Our artisans apply food-grade, hypoallergenic sealants that protect the surface and make it easy to maintain. Every completed piece undergoes structural integrity testing before delivery.
How do I care for my RareBath?+
Care is straightforward. We recommend pH-neutral cleansers, avoiding abrasive scrubbing materials, and an annual application of our proprietary mineral sealant — available exclusively to RareBath clients. Full care and maintenance documentation is provided with every piece.
How much does a RareBath cost?+
Due to the singular nature of each specimen, pricing varies considerably. Our collection ranges from investment pieces beginning in the mid-five figures to exceptionally rare and large specimens that have sold for well into six figures. We share pricing privately during consultation.
    How is payment handled?+
All transactions are handled through a professional third-party escrow service. Your funds are held securely and only released to us upon your written confirmation of receipt and satisfaction. This protects buyers fully and reflects our commitment to trust and transparency.
    Do you ship internationally?+
Yes. We have delivered RareBath pieces to clients across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Each piece is custom-crated by specialist art handlers and shipped with full insurance coverage. Our team coordinates customs documentation for international deliveries.
Can I view the pieces before purchasing?+
Private viewings of available specimens can be arranged by appointment. Contact us at info@rarebath.com or book a consultation call, and our team will arrange access to our current inventory in a format that suits your schedule and location.
